Badminton England launched an initiative Badminton4Macmillan in Nov 15, Judith immediately signed APJBC up to this worthy cause.

In order to get all the players on board, Judith together with Melanie Battcock, a Macmillan volunteer, delivered information about the work Macmillan provide.

To raise funds, every player was given a sponsor form for the ‘longest rally in 2mins’, plus a card to write or draw a message of support for Macmillan which would form part of a long lasting poster in the Sports Hall.

Initially the target was £750, but that was reached within a week, the support was incredible, soon there was £2k and then £3k, eventually the target was set at £5k but we smashed that raising £5109.

Badminton England were so impressed with our fundraising that they sent a camera crew with a green screen to photograph all the players with their parents in the Monday evening session to Raise a Racket to show you care. Eric Brown a former Chief Executive of BE came along to referee and give out prizes.

What a fantastic week, all the Clubs and Universities together raised £20k for Macmillan, we raised over 25% of that total!!
