Jack Petchey Foundation & Achievement Award

Alexandra Park Junior Badminton Club is delighted to benefit from a partnership with and the support of the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme. We are proud to be silver level partners.

Sir Jack Petchey CBE is an incredible inspiration to many across London. Famed as a businessman who gave back to his community and to future generations, Jack built a multi-million pound business empire from scratch.

His own experiences and lack of opportunities as he was growing up led him to a goal of helping young people. He has done this in various ways, including rewarding and celebrating young people’s positive achievements. Since 1999, over £160 million has been invested in programmes to benefit young people aged 11-25 across London and Essex.

The Jack Petchey Achievement Awards that we receive allow Alexandra Park Junior Badminton Club to recognise, celebrate and reward the achievements of its members and to inspire and raise their aspirations. Six members of the club receive grants each year, with all club members having close involvement in the awards process. Being a good role model, volunteering, perseverance, overcoming a personal challenge and doing their best are the values that we most encourage and value. Winners receive a grant and can decide on how it is spent, provided it benefits as many members of the club as possible. Grants have previously been used to take the club out on social events, to fund parent/child charity tournaments and to fund Badminton England coaching courses for club members.

We are very grateful for the support that the Jack Petchey Foundation gives us in inspiring our members to be not just better badminton players, but also as being the best versions of themselves they can be.
