1. Club Name and Affiliation
The club will be called Alexandra Park Junior Badminton Club and will be affiliated to Badminton England and Middlesex County Badminton Association.
2. Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of the club will be to:
- Play and promote badminton within the local community
- Offer badminton coaching and competition opportunities to all junior members
- Provide duty of care and protection to all junior members
- To make sure all club members are treated equitably and fairly
3. Finances and Accounts
All club monies will be banked in an account held in the name of Alexandra Park Junior Badminton Club.
The accounts will be kept by the Treasurer, and audited annually.
The financial year of the club will end on 31st August (to fall in line with the badminton season).
Any cheques drawn against club funds will be signed by at least two authorised signatories, the Treasurer and the Secretary.
Should Alexandra Park Junior Badminton Club no longer be viable and the accounts need to be wound up then any residual funds, after all creditors have been satisfied, shall be donated to a club or organisation with similar aims and objectives.
4. Running of the Club
The club will be run by a committee consisting of:
- Welfare Officer
- L2 Coach
The committee will meet 3 times a year. At the AGM, the committee will resign but will be eligible for re-election.
Membership shall consist of:
- Junior members.
All members will be subject to the constitution and codes of conduct adopted by the club.
There is a subscription fee which can be paid termly or annually, which will be set at a committee meeting prior to the beginning of the season. No player will be excluded by the inability to pay the subscription.
The Annual General Meeting will be held in December. At least twenty-one days’ notice will be given to members.
The Agenda will include:
- A report from the committee
- Treasurer’s report and the year’s Accounts
- Resignation of the current committee
- Election of the committee for the coming year
A resolution to dissolve the club can only be passed at an AGM or an EGM. In the event of dissolution, any assets of the Club that remain will be used for approved sporting or charitable purpose.
The term ‘approved sporting or charitable purpose’ shall be for;
The purposes of Middlesex County Badminton Association for use in related community sport.
The purposes of another Junior Middlesex County Affiliated Badminton Club.
The purposes of a Charity.
8. Constitution Changes
This Constitution can be changed only by majority vote at an AGM.
Byelaws and other Regulations
1. League and Friendly Matches
Members taking part in league and friendly matches shall pay a match fee for home and away matches at an amount as shall be agreed from time to time by the Management Committee.
2. Guests and Attendance of Members
Club members shall be entitled to bring guests in but members must obtain the permission of the Secretary. A guest can visit upto 3 times, paying a guest fee, and if accepted will then be expected to become a member of Alexandra Park Junior Badminton Club.
3. Club Sessions and Code of Conduct
Members are expected to arrive on time help set up and put away the equipment. All members must be ready and take part in the warm up and any coaching drills. All members are expected to show respect to the coach and the equipment and behave in a mature manner. Any member who fails to behave will be given a warning and reported to the committee, a member of the PE staff and their parents. A second offence may result in a ban from attending Alexandra Park Junior Badminton Club.
All complaints regarding the behaviour of members should be sent in writing to the secretary who will call a committee meeting to take appropriate action. There will be a right to appeal which the committee will consider within 21 days.
4. Membership of the Leagues
The Chairperson and Secretary shall be the Club’s official representatives at general meetings of Leagues and shall have the power to vote on all matters affecting the Club’s interest. If unable to attend or act in these capacities the Management Committee shall have the power to appoint another member of the committee to officially represent the Club at such meetings.
5. Club Entries in Leagues
The Management Committee shall make a decision as to the type and number of entries to be submitted for entry into any League for the following season.
6. Waiting List
If necessary the Secretary shall maintain a “waiting list” and have authority to invite potential new members to three club sessions respectively. After three attendances the Management Committee shall decide whether or not to accept the application for membership.
7. Club Ladder
Alexandra Park Junior Badminton Club will operate a handicap singles ladder every term, all members will be expected to compete.
8. Match Selection (Friendly and League)
The head coaches shall be responsible for selecting and where appropriate nominating teams, whose decision must be regarded as final in respect of the first matches played.
Alexandra Park Junior Badminton Club hereby adopts and accepts this constitution.
